"Hi.  Just wanted to let you know I am really enjoying your book...I have to pace my time reading because I find I don't want to do anything else when I pick up the book. I had a friend come and stay a night this week and I showed her the book. While I was at work, she read farther than I had. She really liked it also.  If I don't e-mail too often, it's because I'm reading!!!!!!!  You are quite a good writer!"

"Upon getting to the chapter on Denmark, I was reminded again of the book/movie : Out of Africa, and that shall be on my list of next books to read, after I finish A Farewell to Arms. Fascinating..  reading biographies.. I have enjoyed many comments you make in your book, usually personal reflections. One such was about being interested not so much in where a person died, but where they were born and raised.. where they grew up and had their first experiences. So true. I also was surprised to learn about Albert Nobel.. and about Hans Christian Anderson. So many bits of information I did not know. I found your concept of bridges, mentioned early on in the book, something that stayed with me. I've gone back to re-read that a few times, and shared with some people.  I  shall now look on bridges with a new perspective...

And finally, I especially liked what you wrote in chapter 12 about Loneliness,  and how when travelling you are never really alone. You hold in mind memories of family and friends, and before you know it you're talking with strangers and making new friends.  Again, I got out the highlighter, and pondered that for a few minutes."

"Just a brief note to tell you I'm still enjoying your book. The 8 1/2 x 11 format makes it a bit difficult to carry around, but the story is sure great reading."

"I received the book yesterday at 2:30 p.m......was too excited to write at that time and launched right into reading. When my husband saw the size of the book he said, 'kiss me now honey and I'll talk to you sometime in April'."

A follow-up:
"I am in the middle of the book and read it every chance I get.....so, so, interesting and very funny at times....I break out in laughter and startle my poor husband from time to time."

A follow-up:
"It has brought out a number of different emotions in me.....delight, laughter, amusement, sadness. It also has been quite thought provoking … I felt you really opened yourself up to the reader and shared your personal experiences quite fearlessly. I was happy and quite surprised to read about your tender feelings about women in general and this made me feel hopeful.....I'm not accustomed to hearing men talk about longing, loneliness, feelings of uncertainty....and at some points I was agonizing right along with you. … Well I must get back to the book now...."

"I'm reading your "Odyssey" again and am enjoying it a whole lot better the second time around.  Perhaps it is because I'm savoring the journey, trials and tribulations and trying to equate to it this time."

Here is what some visitors to the Odyssey website said:

"I visited your site tonight, and I spent at least 3 hours there! Throughout the years I have seen a few sites that are very similar to yours, but none as interesting and spell-binding as yours!

"UNBELIEVABLE!!!   There are still some chapters that I haven't read completely yet...because I found it irresistible to jump ahead to see what adventures were on the next page."

"Tom, you got to me!!!  You took me clear out of myself as I read your story and lived your pictures.  I have never been so moved in my life.  I actually forgot I was sitting here in this wheel chair.  It was me on that scooter, and it was me looking out of your eyes, and feeling and tasting and being.  Now I want to read your book... .

"Dear Tom,

"I was somewhat leary of a website promotion - but I clicked & what a wonderful surprise!  Love the music, photos & most of all the story - first chapter more than a little reminiscent of The Lord of the Rings...

"You sound like the best sort of traveller - courageous & adventurous, willing to learn lessons from your travels instead of imposing rigid plans & missing the real adventure...I'm enjoying the website tremendously, looking forward to reading about your journey through India..."

"Tom...to call you a "worldly" character is certainly an understatement.  What an adventure you've had.  Hem would have been impressed.  And I am impressed that you took along BY-LINE in your travels.  A wonderful choice.  As Hemingway travels throughout Europe reporting on the "troubles he's seen," you're right there with him commenting on the glories and beauties you've seen... you have a wealth of original, exciting and informative content here."
