"I have received your story and many, many beautiful photographs. ... your story makes full colored eight pages at least!  I am very impressed with your story and fantastic photgraphs."

Koji Hiroe, Senior Editor
CYCLE WORLD magazine

Just imagine this is your assignment: spend four-months in Hawaii doing research and photography and cover about 1,500  miles of Hawaii's roads, absorbing the beauty of the islands.  Then write about  your impressions.  Tough one, eh?

Then imagine your joy when you see that your story is 10 full pages with 36 of your images used in full color.  Then an illustrator adds some great maps of the four islands covered in the story.  And your story is highlighted on the cover...

That was my good fortune.  I had already had a wonderful experience writing the "World Odyssey on a Scooter" article for CYCLE WORLD's March 1988 issue, especially working with Senior Editor, Koji Hiroe.  So we had a lot of fun with this one - planning it before Melawend and I left Japan, and then through contact after the story was written and submitted for publication..

COMING SOON - the story as submitted in English:
